Supratim Guha
Research Scholar
Mr. Supratim Guha holds a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from Camellia School of Engineering & Technology under Maulana Abul Kamal Azad University of Technology (formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology) and an M.Tech in Energy and Environmental Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology.
Currently, Mr. Guha is actively involved in the field of Remote Sensing Glaciology at the Geomatics Engineering laboratory, IIT Ropar. His doctoral research primarily focuses on understanding the behaviour and status of Himalayan glaciers in different climatic zones. He extensively utilizes remote sensing techniques, inferential statistical methods, and multivariate regression models to accomplish his Ph.D. work. Throughout his academic journey, Mr. Guha has participated in numerous glacier expeditions across the Himalayas, the Alps, and Iceland, enriching his expertise in DGPS, UAV, bathymetric, and electrical resistivity tomography surveys.
He has published two research papers from his Ph.D. work, titled "Analysis of differential glacier behaviour in Sikkim Himalayas in view of changing climate"; published in Geocarto International, and "Analyzing geomorphological and topographical controls for the heterogeneous glacier mass balance in the Sikkim Himalayas"; published in the Journal of Mountain Science. Additionally, several of his research papers are currently under review or communicated to esteemed peer-reviewed journals.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Mr. Guha has an ardent passion for motorbiking in mountainous terrain and embarking on thrilling treks. These adventurous pursuits reflect his love for nature and the outdoors, further enriching his multifaceted personality.
