Hello! I am Dr. Reet Kamal Tiwari, an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering (Geomatics) at IIT Ropar. I am thrilled to share my journey as a teacher, thinker, and researcher in the field of geospatial engineering and its applications.

As a teacher, I have always been passionate about imparting knowledge and fostering curiosity in my students. I have had the privilege of teaching a range of courses, including Geomatics, Advanced Remote Sensing, and Technology Lab Museum. Guiding my students through these subjects and witnessing their growth as young geospatial engineers has been incredibly rewarding.

Over the years, I have actively supervised numerous research scholars, both at the Masters and Ph.D. levels. Seeing their enthusiasm and dedication to research has been inspiring, and I am proud to be a part of their academic journey. It brings me immense joy to be able to contribute to the next generation of researchers and professionals in this field.

As a thinker, I have always strived to explore innovative solutions to complex problems. Establishing the Geomatics Laboratory at IIT Ropar was one such endeavour. Equipping it with cutting-edge instruments and software has enabled our students and researchers to explore the full potential of geospatial technology in various applications.

My research interests revolve around geospatial applications in natural resource management, hydrology, agriculture, and environmental monitoring. I have been involved in several research projects, investigating topics such as glacier dynamics, landslides, and water resource management. Collaborating with national and international experts has enriched my understanding and broadened the scope of my research.

I am proud of my contributions to academia and research, and I am grateful for the opportunities to work on consultancy projects that serve real-world applications. These projects have allowed me to apply my expertise in practical scenarios and make a positive impact on various aspects of environmental management and infrastructure development.

Receiving awards and recognition for my research work has been humbling, but the most fulfilling part of my journey is witnessing my students succeed and contribute to the field. Their achievements have been a testament to the dedication and effort put into their education and research.

I am committed to continuous learning and growth in my field, and I strive to remain at the forefront of geospatial technology and its applications. Being a part of organizations like IEEE, ASCE, and the Indian Society of Remote Sensing has provided valuable opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange.

In conclusion, I am grateful for the opportunities I have had as a teacher, thinker, and researcher. I will continue to work diligently to contribute to the field of geospatial engineering and make a positive impact on environmental sustainability and societal development. Thank you for taking the time to learn about my journey.
