Dr. Akshar Tripathi

Dr. Akshar Tripathi is an academic and researcher in the field of Geomatics Engineering, currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna since October 2022. A meritorious student from City Montessori School, Lucknow, he completed his B.Tech in Civil Engineering from SRM University in 2014. After brief stints in both government and private sectors, his passion for research led him to pursue an M.Tech in Remote Sensing and GIS from the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS)-ISRO, completed with distinction in 2018.

He earned his PhD from IIT Ropar in a record 2 years 10 months, becoming the first doctoral graduate from the Civil Engineering Department. His postdoctoral journey includes roles at RSAC-UP, Narendra Deva University, IIT Kanpur���s National Center for Geodesy, and Tel Aviv University in Israel. His core expertise lies in Synthetic Aperture RADAR remote sensing, multi-sensor data integration, and deep learning applications in agriculture, soil health, urban subsidence, and disaster management.

Dr. Tripathi has an impressive academic portfolio with 14 international journal publications, 12 international conference papers, and 04 book chapters. He serves as Guest Editor for three special issues in high-impact journals. He is also a member of the Editorial board of Nature Scientific Reports. A three-time GATE qualifier, he is currently the Lab In-charge of the Geomatics Lab at IIT Patna and an expert panelist for BPSC. Beyond academics, he is passionate about poetry, writing, history, geopolitics, and heritage conservation.
